BEACON - A Sound Healing

BEACON is a sound offering of meditation and rest for bodies of culture. Wellness and rest are two facets that often elude our community due to the stressors that stand in the doorway of life. We offer this sound experience as a ray of light on the possibilities for us to find comfort, care, and a sense of belonging to self through our awareness and presence.

This sound healing utilizes recordings of our ancestors in the form Negro Spirituals that are interwoven with the sounds of gongs, bells, rattles, drums and other instruments. This is being offered as part of Black History Month Kingston

“A sound bath is a deeply-immersive, full-body listening experience that intentionally uses sound to invite gentle yet powerful therapeutic and restorative processes to nurture your mind and body.” -Sara Auster

Yoga mats, blankets, and bolsters will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring anything that will allow them additional comfort during the ceremony. Participants either lie down or sit comfortably while listening to the sounds of various instruments, like singing bowls, chimes, drums, and gongs. Think of this time as a way to become present, connect inward, and allow a beacon of light and care to shine on and through you.

Space is limited. It is helpful to us if you register. Thank you.

Ben Brown -

To me bodywork is more than just working the body, it's about the support, understanding and appreciation of how amazing your body is. It's the ability to add more space, more freedom and comfort and in turn more joy and life.

I'm in my 14th year as a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist and Educator. I practice both in NYC and Upstate NY.

Micah -

Creating, shaping, holding space for healing, for care, and to just be is deeply important to me. I think we all need that.

I have experience as a yoga teacher, and a mindfulness facilitator and on occasion working with sound.

Please RSVP so that we may prepare a space for you. We look forward to seeing you. There is a max attendance of 30.
