GWI shares and celebrates your commitment to participatory facilitation! We know that collaboration is not an automatic result of a desire to work together well, but flows from intentional, ongoing practices that develop the awareness and capacities of the members of the working group over time. Enter the facilitator.
Our goal is to provide clarity and grounding for those stepping into the ongoing practice of being a participatory facilitator. We come to this work with curiosity and humility, and as co-learners on this journey with you!
In this lightly-facilitated gathering, we aim to provide a space for all of us to share our approaches, challenges, and learnings as we experiment and grow in our practice as facilitators. This offering is a discussion-based session, a community of practice. This is not a workshop, although we will share tips and tricks, as we hear from each other.
We invite you to join this discussion if any of the following apply:
- You hold the responsibility in leading or co-leading a class, working group, or team
- You sense there might be better ways for you all to collaborate in meetings but are not sure how to shift things
- You seek a more democratic process when making group decisions or gathering people’s input
- You’d like support from other facilitators!
If you are seeking more formal training, we do offer The Art of Facilitation, our intro workshop for facilitators, so please check out our workshops page to see when we are next offering that!
This offering is being hosted by GWI Worker Trustees Hélène and/or Micah.
GWI Worker Trustees have decades of combined experience in facilitation, program design, and transformative experiences. Drawing from their individual styles and backgrounds, as well as GWI’s extensive toolbox honed over 6 fellowship programs, scores of workshops, facilitation engagements, and cohort-based programming, Hélène and Micah are collaborating to offer facilitation training and support.
