*postponed due to weather!* FORUM 5: Kingston Community Fund (in-person)

Due to the inclement weather, we are postponing our community forum scheduled for this evening. Please check the Community Fund page for upcoming forums. Our next bilingual community forum will be on February 25th. Stay safe out there!

An open community forum and facilitated discussion around the creation of a Kingston Community Fund.

Kingston residents are invited to our ongoing community meetings to talk about what we mean by “fund” and how we can take steps to design an equitable and participatory fund-design process. To be clear: this is not a designed fund. We don’t have the answers. What a fund can be and how it functions will be determined by the members of the community who step into this work with us.

Our role at GWI is to facilitate this process of imagining and creating a fund, and we’ll bring our Just-Transition-aligned work around shared leadership and navigating conflict to the forefront. We believe in order to change the outcomes we also have to change the process. How we work together is just as important a part of democratizing community, wealth, and work as achieving the creation of a fund.

Check out our announcement post, where we share some thoughts around what this fund might represent and why a democratically-controlled fund, created by the community, for the community, is a way to democratize access to resources and localize economic power.

Please feel free to bring friends and neighbors – we would love to include as many Kingston residents as are interested in joining.

This session is BILINGUAL! Simultaneous translation offered, english/spanish, ingles/español

PARKING / ENTRANCE: Please park in the parking lot next to the church. The event is in the Parish Hall (not the church itself!), and the entrance is at the far end of the parking lot, up the ramp.
