Maryellen co-owns Free Bird Farm, a certified organic vegetable farm in the Mohawk Valley, about 50 miles northwest of Albany. She and her husband provide high-quality farm shares to area residents as well as to New York City. They collaborate with regional farms in order to offer a variety of products, such as meadow butter, orchard fruit, pastured poultry and organic beef, to farm shareholders. They are long-time participants in the Kingston Farmers’ Market. Maryellen has a professional background in journalism, has worked as an editor for two national food magazines and has been working on a master’s degree in Business Management.
