Los adultos formaban un c\u00edrculo de pie y los ni\u00f1os ten\u00edan que sentarse en el centro. Si eras un ni\u00f1o en el centro, ten\u00edas un trabajo y s\u00f3lo un trabajo, y era sentarte y ESCUCHAR. Perm\u00edteme repetirlo, tu trabajo era sentarte Y ESCUCHAR. Eso es mucho pedir para un ni\u00f1o peque\u00f1o, sobre todo para un ni\u00f1o peque\u00f1o que acababa de comer mucho pero que todav\u00eda ten\u00eda un deseo ardiente de probar todos los postres de la mesa. Para empezar, mi bisabuela abr\u00eda el c\u00edrculo con agradecimiento por el d\u00eda, agradecimiento por estar todos juntos, agradecimiento por todas las bendiciones y dificultades del a\u00f1o (esto se hac\u00eda en espa\u00f1ol. Mi bisabuela rara vez hablaba ingl\u00e9s. Sab\u00eda hacerlo, pero quer\u00eda que aprendi\u00e9ramos el idioma de nuestros antepasados puertorrique\u00f1os. As\u00ed que si le habl\u00e1bamos en ingl\u00e9s, ella nos respond\u00eda en espa\u00f1ol). Cuando termin\u00f3, todos los adultos tuvieron la oportunidad de compartir con el c\u00edrculo. Durara lo que durara, lo \u00fanico que pod\u00edamos hacer era sentarnos y escuchar.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En aquella \u00e9poca, nunca entend\u00ed lo que est\u00e1bamos haciendo. Pensaba que era alg\u00fan plan siniestro creado por los adultos para torturarnos a los ni\u00f1os. Pero, \u00bfqu\u00e9 es esta pr\u00e1ctica? \u00bfSe lo ha inventado ella? \u00bfPara qu\u00e9 sirve? \u00bfDe d\u00f3nde viene?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Una lecci\u00f3n r\u00e1pida:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El c\u00edrculo surgi\u00f3 en diferentes culturas y lenguas y se readapta a diferentes culturas, lenguas y entornos. Siempre hemos sabido que el c\u00edrculo es una forma natural de reunirse para conversar. El c\u00edrculo es un espacio democr\u00e1tico en el que podemos mirarnos a los ojos, inclinarnos y escuchar, e incluir todas las voces con un sentido de igualdad. La pr\u00e1ctica del c\u00edrculo suele conducir a opciones m\u00e1s creativas, decisiones m\u00e1s sabias y acciones m\u00e1s claras. (1)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lo que entendemos por \"proceso de C\u00edrculo\" ha formado parte de la vida comunitaria de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas de todo el mundo durante milenios. Y los distintos pueblos ind\u00edgenas tienen sus propias formas de llevar a cabo procesos de tipo C\u00edrculo. Los no ind\u00edgenas que ahora utilizan los C\u00edrculos parlantes han aprendido, directa o indirectamente, los valores y las pr\u00e1cticas de los C\u00edrculos de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas.(2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anta\u00f1o, el fuego guiaba a nuestros antepasados hacia el c\u00edrculo. Ten\u00eda sentido colocar el fuego en el centro y reunirse a su alrededor. Un c\u00edrculo defin\u00eda el espacio f\u00edsico creando un borde con un sentido com\u00fan de sustento que iluminaba el centro. Estos antepasados necesitaban el c\u00edrculo para sobrevivir -alimentaci\u00f3n, calor, defensa- y descubrieron que el c\u00edrculo pod\u00eda ayudar a dise\u00f1ar el orden social. (3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando me hice mayor, empec\u00e9 a entender por qu\u00e9 no se permit\u00eda a los ni\u00f1os hablar durante el c\u00edrculo. Est\u00e1bamos recibiendo una infusi\u00f3n de conocimientos sobre nuestra familia. As\u00ed que sentarnos y escuchar era una forma de asegurarse de que todos escuch\u00e1bamos y asimil\u00e1bamos lo que se compart\u00eda. \u00a1Qu\u00e9 regalo!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En GWI hemos adoptado una forma de pr\u00e1ctica circular para nuestras reuniones. La pr\u00e1ctica general es la siguiente: tenemos un facilitador (rotamos en ese papel) que lleva el orden del d\u00eda del d\u00eda. Los puntos del orden del d\u00eda pueden ser propuestas, aportaciones, generaci\u00f3n de ideas o actualizaciones (la pr\u00e1ctica del c\u00edrculo var\u00eda en cada caso). El facilitador abrir\u00e1 la reuni\u00f3n con una pr\u00e1ctica de gratitud, una breve revisi\u00f3n del equipo y\/o algunas reflexiones profundas sobre nuestro trabajo. A continuaci\u00f3n, se examinan los distintos puntos del orden del d\u00eda. Si se trata de una propuesta, el proponente tiene la oportunidad de compartirla con el equipo. A continuaci\u00f3n, formamos un c\u00edrculo para formular preguntas aclaratorias. El proponente puede responder a cada pregunta a medida que se formula o esperar hasta el final, pero nadie m\u00e1s debe hablar a menos que sea su turno. Una vez formuladas y respondidas las preguntas aclaratorias, se procede a una ronda de reacci\u00f3n que tambi\u00e9n discurre en c\u00edrculo. Cuando llega su turno, cada miembro del equipo tiene la oportunidad de considerar si quiere hablar y qu\u00e9 quiere decir. Esta pr\u00e1ctica nos permite ralentizarnos lo suficiente como para buscar un equilibrio de voces en la mesa.
