El 3 de febrero fue mi primer aniversario en el Good Work Institute como gerente de patrocinio fiscal convertido en administrador.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Ten\u00eda cierta idea sobre el patrocinio fiscal por mi experiencia en el \u00e1mbito filantr\u00f3pico. Sab\u00eda que era una forma de que los donantes proporcionaran recursos a personas que realizan una buena labor sin sobrecargarlas con la carga administrativa y operativa que supone crear su propia organizaci\u00f3n 501(c)(3).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Pero, \u00bfqu\u00e9 significaba ser patrocinador fiscal?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Empezar como gerente de patrocinio fiscal en GWI signific\u00f3 mi primer viaje diario al trabajo. Sub\u00eda por la I-87 desde Newburgh a Kingston varias veces a la semana. El tiempo perfecto para escuchar un \u00e1lbum completo. Dos de mis favoritos de 2025 fueron \u201cThe Boy Who Played The Harp\u201d, del rapero brit\u00e1nico Dave, y \u201cLove Letters\u201d, de Saint Levant, un cantante palestino.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

En GWI, nuestro trabajo de patrocinio fiscal est\u00e1 a cargo de nuestro C\u00edrculo de Patrocinio Fiscal, cuyo nombre no es ninguna sorpresa. Somos Susan, Micah y yo. (\u00bfNo somos adorables?)<\/p>\n\n

Soy la \u00fanica trabajadora que dedica todo su tiempo al patrocinio fiscal. El puesto de administrador dedicado al patrocinio fiscal es una nueva funci\u00f3n en la organizaci\u00f3n y representa un aumento intencionado de la capacidad y la atenci\u00f3n que se presta a esta parte de la programaci\u00f3n de GWI.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Como uno de los trabajadores que se uni\u00f3 al c\u00edrculo al inicio del programa de patrocinio fiscal de GWI, Micah es nuestro mayor. Aporta su sabidur\u00eda para atender y orientar los proyectos potenciales a trav\u00e9s de nuestro proceso de admisi\u00f3n y solicitud<\/a>. Susan aporta sus conocimientos sobre operaciones y contabilidad, as\u00ed como la important\u00edsima facultad de firma. Firmamos cartas de subvenci\u00f3n, revisamos las finanzas y concedemos subvenciones. Nos obsesionamos con los flujos de trabajo, los sistemas de archivo y la experiencia del usuario. \u00bfC\u00f3mo podemos facilitar esto para nuestros proyectos? \u00bfC\u00f3mo podemos facilitar esto para nosotros? \u00bfC\u00f3mo equilibramos la resoluci\u00f3n creativa de problemas con el objetivo general de mantener el cumplimiento normativo? Y la pregunta definitiva: \u00bfeste trabajo se considera ben\u00e9fico seg\u00fan la definici\u00f3n del IRS?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Trabajar en nuestros proyectos patrocinados puede parecer un viaje en el tiempo. Una de mis lecturas favoritas del a\u00f1o pasado fue \u201cTodo para todos: una historia oral de la comuna de Nueva York, 2052-2072<\/a>\u201d. Se trata de una obra de ficci\u00f3n especulativa que recoge las historias de activistas, agricultores, DJ, trabajadores sexuales y otras personas que han sobrevivido al colapso capitalista y han forjado un nuevo orden social. Est\u00e1 llena de ideas sobre c\u00f3mo podemos superar estos tiempos y qu\u00e9 necesitamos para prosperar.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Veo las semillas y los brotes de este nuevo mundo en el trabajo de nuestros proyectos. No solo en sus misiones, sino en c\u00f3mo se organizan para priorizar la gobernanza cooperativa y las relaciones solidarias y resilientes. Es lo contrario del profundo y doloroso cambio que est\u00e1n experimentando muchos en los sectores sin fines de lucro y filantr\u00f3picos. Presiones externas extremas, s\u00ed, pero tambi\u00e9n la explosi\u00f3n\/implosi\u00f3n causada por a\u00f1os de din\u00e1micas de poder sin resolver, crisis de liderazgo y traumas organizacionales.\u00a0<\/p>\n
