Viviendo junto al arroyo Esopus, profundizamos en nuestra comunidad a trav\u00e9s del trabajo cooperativo, el juego y el compartir el pan juntos.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Esta es la visi\u00f3n de la comunidad de covivienda Cantine\u2019s Island, en Saugerties, un vecindario ideal para familias donde miembros de diferentes generaciones conviven de manera cooperativa en diecinueve viviendas de propiedad privada ubicadas en m\u00e1s de 9.5 acres de terreno de propiedad comunitaria.\u00a0 En este episodio de \u00abThe Good Work Hour\u00bb, las copresentadoras Terri y Susan reciben a Cara DeVito y Dorothy Varner, dos residentes de esta comunidad que rompe con el aislamiento y trabaja en pro de una transici\u00f3n justa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cara DeVito<\/strong>\u00a0es una cineasta independiente de documentales que trabaj\u00f3 en NBC Network News en la Ciudad de Nueva York durante 20 a\u00f1os como editora y productora de segmentos de noticias. El enfoque principal de su trabajo es contar historias de personas comunes y corrientes que hacen cosas extraordinarias para superar la injusticia. Se mud\u00f3 de la Ciudad de Nueva York al Valle del Hudson hace 22 a\u00f1os. En el Valle del Hudson, ha producido pel\u00edculas en la Biblioteca Presidencial de FDR, ha trabajado con ni\u00f1os autistas y para el Instituto Omega. En su b\u00fasqueda de formas de construir una comunidad, se uni\u00f3 a la comunidad de covivienda Cantine\u2019s Island en Saugerties hace 8 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dorothy Varner<\/strong>\u00a0trabaja como educadora al aire libre en la Middle Way School de Saugerties.
